Areas to do controls/Moving off & Stopping High Drive is a good place to begin practicing moving off and stopping and learning how to use the controls. Although this is in KT3, it is only 5 minutes from Kingston Town Centre. Left/Right turns and emerging at T-Junctions The circuit the WDS recommends begins on High Drive, then left on to Branksome Way. Continue until the crossroads when you take a right onto Woodlands Avenue. At the end of this road emerge left on to High Drive again and another left will take you on to Overdale Avenue. A right will take you on to Oak Road, at the end of which you emerge on to Clarence Avenue. A right turn here returns the student on to High Drive. This circuit provides a tried and tested method for allowing the student to practice steering, MSPSL and peep and creep techniques. Crossroads Branksome Way and Woodlands Avenue meet at some suitable crossroads where the student can develop their understanding of priorities and the extra observation crucial to negotiating crossroads safely. Additionally it is possible to practice right-to-right crossroads here. Roundabouts A suitable roundabout can be found where Park Road, Manorgate Road, Clifton Road, Kingston Hill and London Road meet. The student can learn about priorities and positioning and the necessary signals to be used for any exit. Pedestrian Crossings and use of Signals Kingston Hill provides plenty of pedestrian crossings and signals to enable the student to familiarize themselves with the varying types. This route also allows planning issues to be addressed. Areas to do maneuvers Reversing around the corner can be rehearsed on the corner of High Drive and Overdale Avenue, or alternatively where High Drive meets Woodlands Avenue. Parallel parking can also be carried out safely on High Drive as can the turn in the road exercise.
